The course will last for seven weeks, with the first course
scheduled to begin in the first week of July, and continue
until the end of August.
• Students having little or no knowledge of Sanskrit,
studying in Universities abroad are eligible to attend the
course.
• Persons who are not pursuing any specific course
of study in a University, but who interested in learning
Sanskrit, may also apply for the courses. Admission to the
course is granted at the discretion of the Foundation.
• Each weekday will feature four classes of 45 –
50 minutes each. There will be holidays on weekends to enable
the students to refresh as well as meet friends and pursue
other interests.
• The subjects covered during these four periods
will be as follows:
• Introduction to Sanskrit alphabets and Pronunciation:
This will provide the student with a through grounding in
reading and writing in Sanskrit.
• Spoken Sanskrit: This will enable the student to
converse to a certain extent in Sanskrit at the end of the
course.
• Lessons in Comprehension: This will enable the
student to compose prose in the form of simple and complex
sentences in Sanskrit. The student will also acquire basic
level of expertise in translation between Sanskrit and English.
• Study of Sanskrit Literature: Some of the classical
Sanskrit works will be taught under this program. Students
will be able to appreciate the specialty of Sanskrit language
and the thoughts contained in the content.
• Outline, history and scope of Sanskrit Literature:
This will provide the student with an overview of Sanskrit
literature, from the Vedic texts to works of modern Sanskrit
and its utility to the modern world.
• Vedic recitation: Simple Vedic recitation and recitation
of other devotional literature will be taught to the students
to acquaint them with the beauty of Sanskrit language.
• Separate course material for the above will be
supplied to all participants.
• Students are free to omit some of the classes,
depending on their interest and other factors. However,
if a student opts for one particular topic of the above,
then he / she will be expected to attend that particular
class every day.
• The method used for coaching include:
• Direct lectures from Expert teachers, with teaching
experience of a minimum of 10 years.
• Audio-Visual Media
• Other necessary means
• Fortnightly tests will be conducted to assess the
progress of the student.
• Student feedback will be obtained from the student
at the end of the first fortnight to address any problems
that he / she may face with regard to the course and appropriate
modifications will be made, within the framework of the
program.
• One or two separate sight seeing tours will be
conducted as part of the course, that will introduce the
student to Indian culture and history. The cost of this
tour is not included in the course fee, and will have to
be paid separately. If any student is not interested in
the tour, he/she may inform the course coordinator.
• The maximum number of students in a class will
be 25.
